Over €27,000 approved in “Trading Online Vouchers” for Fingal SME’s

In response to a successful “Trading Online Voucher” Information session held in the Carnegie Court Hotel in June, thirteen Fingal businesses were successful in their application for “Trading Online Vouchers”, receiving a combined payment of €27,450.

The goal of the “Trading Online Voucher” Scheme is to enable small businesses to embrace the digital economy and increase sales, exports and ultimately jobs.  Under the scheme, vouchers of up to €2,500 will be available to small businesses who demonstrate that they have a credible plan to get their business trading online.  

Head of Fingal Local Enterprise Office, Oisín Geoghegan, urged any businesses that are serious about selling online to attend the next “Trading Online Voucher” information session on the 8th September. “We have approved 26 Online Voucher applications in 2016 totalling €57,450. This scheme has been a huge help to many small businesses in the region looking to progress into the digital economy. ”  

A report by the Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment showed that small businesses which have participated in the “Trading Online Voucher” Scheme experienced an 85% boost in customer inquiries and a 21% average increase in sales, 70% predicted a jobs-dividend of almost 15%.  

Chief Executive of Fingal County Council, Paul Reid highlighted the importance of investing in web technology: “Web technology has dramatically altered shopping patterns over the past few years resulting in an upsurge in online shopping. This continuing upsurge offers local businesses the opportunity to reach new customers and increase sales. It is vital that we provide the right support mechanisms to enable small businesses to compete in this arena”.
