Ponaire has been importing raw coffee beans from around the world, roasting and blending them to sell into the Food Service and Retail market in Ireland and UK since 2006. Initially the business was set up in a small warehouse in Tipperary Town but in 2009 relocated to a customised Roastery in Annacotty Business Park in Limerick. In 2015, the business invested significantly to renovate an old building on Main Street, Newport into a “state of the art” Roastery production facility which includes space for roasting, blending, grinding, packing coffee and Barista Training. There is also a comfortable coffee shop where customers can drink award-wining coffees prepared by skilled Baristas. Ponaire also serves pastries, sandwiches and soups – all made daily and locally. The cafe also sell a full range of coffees and coffee accessories. The team of 10 moved into their new facilities on Monday May 9th.
ABOUT PÓNAIRE TRACEABILITY AND CONSISTENCY
Ponaire import high quality speciality Arabica beans from around the world and hand roast them to meticulously draw out unique flavours. All batches are ‘cupped’ to ensure the highest quality and purest of tastes. Roast profile sheets are maintained to consistently deliver the same high quality that their customers expect.
Ponaire beans can be traced from the farm to the cup or bag. If you buy a bag of Ponaire coffee you will see a batch number that can be traced back to the farm where the coffee was grown. In addition, Ponaire can trace it back to the roast profile sheet.
In their roastery in Newport, Tipperary, customers can be served delicious coffees by trained baristas while watching Master Roasters roast coffee. Customers can also purchase a wide selection of coffees that are roasted onsite. Ponaire supply coffee to specialty food shops, cafes, hotels, restaurants and many other establishments that serve good quality coffee.
Since 2009, Ponaire have won 15 Great Taste Awards for their coffees. The Great Taste Awards is the acknowledged benchmark for specialty food and drink. It has been described as the 'Oscars' of the food world and the 'Epicurean equivalent to the Booker prize.' In 2013 Ponaire won 2 Gold Stars for their Brazil Single Origin Decaf and 1 Gold Star for their new Rich Sumatra Espresso Blend.
In 2011, Ponaire was nominated as one of the finalist for the Good Food Ireland Food Producer of the Year Award. All 3 coffees that were submitted for judging by the Guild of Fine Foods in 2011 won Gold! The Costa Rica Morning Blend and New European Espresso Blend won Gold and the Brazil Fairtrade Single Origin won 2 Gold Stars! In 2015 John and Sally McKenna named Ponaire – the Best Irish Producer in Ireland!
