PWM is a mechanical engineering company, specialising in orbital welding and in the fabrication of stainless steel. It was established by Jack O’Dwyer and has been successfully operating in Thurles for nearly forty years. The Company mainly manufactures steel items to order for pharmaceutical, beverage, food and semiconductor industries. The high standards demanded by these industries ensure that the business manufactures precision stainless steel products to the highest quality. Additionally, the company provides the specialised orbital welding service and was one of the first companies in Ireland to use this particular type of weld.

Having been one of the first companies in Ireland to have invested in computerised orbital welding, Pressure Welding Manufacturing has a wealth of expertise in this area.

Orbital welding has been proven to be a very effective method for joining of stainless steel tubing for systems in which the products flowing through them must be maintained in a clean and/or sterile condition. The capability of making smooth, crevice-free is essential for controlling the growth of microorganisms in hygienic piping systems.

Owning five computerised orbital welding machines, PWM have a large capacity in this area. Additionally, they work in a dust free environment and their premises contains a clean room which has been specifically built for our orbital welding operations.

PWM are highly experienced in fabricating customised stainless steel product to meet their customer's requirements.

Some of their stainless steel fabrications include:

  • Stainless steel furniture for example tables, cabinets, trolleys, shelves and sinks
  • CIP “Clean In Place” systems
  • Handrails and barriers
  • Platforms
  • Stairs

On the Mechanical Engineering side Pressure Welding Manufacturing offers a full material take-off service that provides for a wide range of activities such as procurement and estimating, and offer professional advice, on job planning and management.

In 2015, Sinead O’Dwyer, Chief Operations Manager won the Established Business Category of Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur Competition in Tipperary and was crowned Tipperary’s Best Young Entrepreneur 2015. 

PWM were a finalist at the 2016 County Enterprise Awards which were open to all grant beneficiaries from LEO Tipperary.
