Spellings for Me is a cutting edge EdTech firm that offers a tailored spelling solution for primary school children as well as those with special educational needs (SEN). It’s solution is a hybrid learning model which is both digital and workbook-based learning. The programme individualises spelling lists for every student based on their exact ability.

The business was co-founded by Paddy Grace and his wife Emma, both with a background in primary education and literacy development.  Several years of experience teaching highlighted many issues including:

• The students were furtively failing at spelling, the old-school workbooks did not consider their needs.
• Dyslexic and EAL students did not receive individual support and thus were increasingly fall behind.
• Manual correction of spelling tests was a huge time loss for teachers.
• A digital-first data-driven solution may save teachers time while improving learning outcomes.

The couple felt that there was a need to address these issues in the marketplace and in 2019 founded Spellings for Me Ltd with the goal of producing a personalised hybrid spelling programme with the goal of improving literacy education which had become such a passion for them in their careers.

Since it's inception in 2019, the company has been been granted many supports by LEO Tipperary including, Feasibility Study Grant, Business Expansion Grant, Technical Assistance Micro Exporter Grant and a Trading Online Voucher grant.  The company has also received financial assistance through InterTradeIreland in the form of a First Time Exporter and Part Time Acumen grants. 

The platform prides itself on innovation through it's personalised and adaptive learning as well as it's upcoming AI development plans.  A cost effective and scalable solution, Spellings for Me is a teacher-friendly and time saving solution which is also scalable while offering a sustainable and eco-friendly resource.  The platform has grown in recent years and is now in use in more than 50% of Irish Primary Schools, a target set to increase to 75% of by 2027.  Expansion plans include a focus on new markets such as the UK, EAL (English as an Additional Language) and the Far East. 

Spellings for Me Ltd will represent LEO Tipperary in this year's National Enterprise Awards Competition on 22 May at Dublin's Mansion House and we wish Paddy and Emma well in that and continued success as the company grows.
