This year’s theme is Amuigh Faoin Speir – Out in the Open, celebrating community, creativity, and coming together under the open sky.

RULES FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARADE 2026
- Intending participants in the parade are required to submit a completed application form to the St. Patrick’s Day 2026 Organising Committee, Municipal District of Longford, Longford County Council, Great Water Street, Longford.
- The closing date by which an indication of a group’s intention to participate in the parade is Friday, 6 March 2026.
- Longford County Council recommends that the adult/child ratio for groups participating in the Parade should not be less than one adult per eight children (U 18).
- The parade must not be used to make political statements or promote any lobby group or campaign.
- The organisers reserve the right to refuse participation by any group.
- The organisers will decide the order of groups in the parade.
- In the interest of public safety, only vehicles up to 12metres in length are permissible. Persons/Groups wishing to use a float in the parade must obtain the prior permission of the Organising Committee and must specify the size and dimensions of the float to be used. Those that do not comply with size restrictions will not be permitted to participate in the parade. Please note that all float entrants will be required to provide a person from that group at each wheel of the vehicle/trailer. A maximum of three vehicles per entrant will be allowed.
- Groups intending to use vehicles in the parade must produce evidence of current motor insurance cover.
- Assembly time and location is 11.00 a.m. on Tuesday, 17 March 2026, at Connolly’s Barracks, Church Street, Longford Town
With the growing number of participants, it is imperative that participants arrive on time.
- Participants must adhere to the instructions of the parade stewards.

The contact details that you provide will be processed by Longford County Council for the purpose of organising the line up for the St. Patrick’s Day parade, an annual community event, and for promoting and advertising the parade. Any photographs taken on the day of the parade will be used in advertising & publicising the parade, in media, including social media. Photographs may be reproduced in Council reports, and promotional material. The legal basis for the personal data processing is Article 6 (1) (e) – it is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the Council – in this case per Section 43 of the Local Government (Reform) Act 2014. Article 6 (1) (a) - consent of the data subject - is a further legal basis for the processing. Consent can be withdrawn at any time, but such withdrawal will not affect the lawfulness of processing before its withdrawal. The recipients of the contact details are a small team of staff in the Longford municipal district of the Council. Images will be recorded by the Council on the day of the parade by a photographer with whom a data processing agreement is in place. Images will be shared on social media and will be used to publicise the parade in the media. Images recorded by the Council on the day may be used in Council reports and promotional material.
- The retention periods or the criteria used to determine that period
The Application Form will be held for five years and destroyed thereafter in accordance with the National Retention Policy for Local Authority Records pertaining to community events.
