This course is designed to provide food business operators and food handlers with essential knowledge and practical skills to ensure safe food handling practices in line with Irish food safety legislation.
The programme focuses on real-life food safety risks, legal responsibilities, and practical controls that participants can apply immediately within their own food businesses.
Course Aims
The aims of this course are to:
- Increase awareness of the importance of food safety in protecting public health
- Support food businesses in meeting their legal food safety obligations
- Provide practical guidance on safe food handling and hygiene practices
- Promote confidence and competence in day-to-day food safety management
Course Content
The course will cover:
- Introduction to Food Safety
- Foodborne illness and contamination
- Food safety hazards (biological, chemical, physical, allergens)
- Personal hygiene and illness reporting
- Cleaning and sanitation
- Temperature control (delivery, storage, cooking, cooling, reheating)
- Cross-contamination prevention
- Allergen awareness and legal requirements
- Introduction to HACCP principles
- Record keeping and documentation
- Preparing for inspections and compliance
Certification
Participants will receive a Food Safety Certificate of Completion issued by Tipperary Food Safety Training & Consultancy.
