Donegal’s LEO Partners with Earagail Arts Festival for Creative Showcase

Donegal’s Local Enterprise Office is partnering with the Earagail Arts Festival to present a unique exhibition this summer. Taking place as part of the 2016 festival programme, ‘An Exhibition of Donegal’s Creative Entrepreneurs’ will bring together over 50 of the county’s best creative talent, working across a range of disciplines. The exhibition will be officially launched on Thursday, 14th July, 2016 at 7pm.

Submissions are now being sought from anyone working in the creative sector in Donegal. Applications are welcome across all disciplines, including music, fine art, sculpture, film-making, graphic design, illustration, fashion design, ceramics and wood-turning. Participating artists will be invited to take over an unused commercial unit on Letterkenny’s Justice Walsh Road, turning the space into a hub of creativity and contemporary design.

Michael Tunney, Head of Enterprise at Donegal’s LEO says exhibitions like this form a key part of the LEO’s Strategic Action Plan For Creative Entrepreneurship in Donegal: “One of our main goals is to facilitate networking opportunities for creatives in Donegal to help grow the sector, so partnering with the Earagail Arts Festival is a natural fit for us. The creative sector is of huge importance to the Donegal economy, particularly when you consider that a 2015 ‘Economic Baseline Study’, found the creative sector employs over 75,000 people and is worth €4.6 billion to the national economy. We’re encouraging creative businesses across the county to get their submissions in for what promises to be a wonderful showcase of the wealth of creative talent in Donegal.”

Taking place from Friday 15th – 17th July, the exhibition will include live demonstrations by participating artists. Places for the exhibition are limited and application forms can be downloaded below. The closing date for fully completed application forms is Friday, 20th May 2016.

For more information and to submit an application, contact Grace Korbel, Donegal Local Enterprise Office, on 074 91 60735 or email grace.korbel@leo.donegalcoco.ie. Confirmation of inclusion in the exhibition will be forwarded to successful applicants by Wednesday, 1st June 2016.
