New food website launched in Limerick.

A new central hub to highlight all things food in Limerick has been launched. LimerickFood.ie is a new website based on the Food Strategy for Limerick 2016–2018 and aims to promote and develop Limerick’s food and drink industry by showcasing the wealth of high quality, tasty food and drink on offer across Limerick city and county.

Minister Pat Breen joined Deputy Mayor Cllr Adam Teskey, Eamon Ryan of Local Enterprise Office Limerick, and Limerick Food Group in launching limerickfood.ie, a subsite of limerick.ie at the Pigtown FoodWorks event held at Fitzgerald's Woodlands House Hotel Adare.

Pigtown FoodWorks is a business event sponsored by Limerick LEO (Local Enterprise Office) for people across the food and drinks industry in the region - from producers, traders and chefs, to those in food service and food tourism.

The event included presentations from leaders in industry, panel discussion and networking lunch, and is part of the Pigtown Food & Culture Series 2019.

The event was opened by Cllr Olivia O'Sullivan of Limerick Food Group and Pigtown Festival, followed by guest presentations from Marianne Flannery of Savour Kilkenny, and Margaret Hoctor of Kilmullen Farm, with producer presentations and panel discussion with local food producers Kevin Wallace of New Leaf Urban Farm, Theresa Storey of The Green Apron, and Nick Cotter of Cotter Organic Lamb.

Keynote speaker was Peter Ward of Country Choice.

It was followed by a locally sourced lunch at Fielding's Organic Restaurant, introduced by Mary Fitzgerald of Fitzgerald's Woodlands Hotel.

Limerickfood.ie is for the foodies, the buyers, the sellers, the producers, the chefs and the home cooks.

The website is a one stop shop where Limerick food and drink businesses can showcase their products and services and get information on the supports and resources available to them while consumers can learn about our local offerings and where to find them.

The goal of this information hub is to highlight exceptional food and drink by promoting Limerick’s delicacies at a local, national and international level.
