For Clare, Limerick and Tipperary participants

Dates 23rd March, 30th March, 6th April & 13th April from 2pm - 5.30pm. Delivered online via Zoom by Carmel Connaire, Food Consultant. The Food Starter Programme consists of four short online workshops designed to help those with a food idea, or those at a very early stage of starting a food business (first 24 months).

Content

The content is designed to provide you with information which will allow you to avoid the pitfalls normally associated with this journey. While certain aspects of the programme are relevant to those setting up cafes/ restaurants, the core programme content is designed for those producing food to be sold through third parties i.e. food producers.

If you are considering applying for the Food Academy Programme in the future, this programme will provide an excellent opportunity to boost your chances of securing a place.

Objectives

The objectives of the programme are:-

  • Define the product offering
  • Identify unique selling points
  • Understand the fundamental associated with food production business
  • Complete a template of worksheets to provide the basis for a business plan
  • Understand legal and cost implications of the food business
  • Understand various routes to market and evaluate these against the product offering
  • Prepare to meet potential buyers or to sell direct to customers

4 online workshops with 2 online one-to-one mentor sessions).
