So, what is Smovey?

According to Irene, ‘Smovey Rings' is a general health and wellness tool that combines exercise and vibration, which have particular beneficial applications for Parkinson's Disease. Indeed, these hand-held rings were invented by Joann Salzwimmer, an Austrian Tennis player and a person with Parkinson's, who actually initially designed them specifically to help himself. So it's not hard to understand why these are proving beneficial now with many other people who also have neurological conditions.

Irene contacted the Waterford Local Enterprise Office in late 2016. Irene says the assistance provided to her business growth has been invaluable. "I was first put in touch with a finance mentor, this would have been my weakest business area and I found that this assistance has helped me to put real structure to the business. I also was assigned a mentor for Customer Relationship Management and has a complete CRM system installed, this transformed the business, I have such direct control and hold of information on all of my clients. So that now if I have something new I have direct access to all of my clients and I can share this information."

" I would very much encourage any business owner or start-up to get in touch with the LEO, they really help to put some great structures and foundations in place which really position you in order to grow and develop the business."

Irene is continually focused on growing her Smovey business and has big plans for the future. She recently traveled to the UK to partake in a Parkinson's Regeneration training course with a specialist in the area of Parkinson's who had traveled from the New York to conduct the training programme. The training specialist Karl Sterling was so impressed with the Smovey product that he is now collaborating with Irene to host worldwide training courses. The first of these courses will take place on November 9th in Dublin also in collaboration with Dr. Ryan Foley from Evolve Fitness and Physiotherapy.

Irene is also continuing to grow her network of qualified Smovey Trainers throughout the country. So, for this reason, she has also organized a training course with specialists who are traveling from the homeland of Smovey (Austria) to Ireland on November 11th and 12th in Waterford. The training programme is aimed at Health and Fitness Instructors, Holistic Therapists and Physio and Physical Therapists.
