Help us map out the Creative Economy of Waterford & the SouthEast

The Creative Waterford Programme and Waterford Local Enterprise Office were successful in an application to the Creative Ireland Economic Action Fund to carry out an economic analysis of the creative sector in the region. RIKON Research Centre in the South East Technological University has been commissioned to carry out the economic survey.

Why are we collecting this data?

The creative sector is wide ranging and includes businesses involved in advertising and marketing, architecture, crafts, design, film, TV, video, radio & photography, IT, software & computer services, publishing, music, performing and visual arts, museums, galleries & libraries.

The creative industries in the South East of Ireland contribute to the overall Irish economy, not only at a national but also at a regional and local level. To date, this contribution has not been mapped. This is a critically important study because the findings will illustrate the economic, social and technological impact of the sector and will help to inform policy into the future.

Therefore, insights gained from this study will:

  • Inform the policy for the creative industries
  • Allow the value of the creative economy in the South East to be quantified
  • Provide a greater understanding of the supports required
  • Promote industry opportunities for the creative industries
