Local support is essential for Suir Sprayers

“The local market is a large part of our business, in particular when it comes to sales of new and used machinery.” John Lynch of Suir Sprayers understands the importance of local support for their business development.

‘Look for Local’ is a campaign of the Local Enterprise Offices launched by the Tánaiste Leo Varadkar which asks consumers to look local when they are shopping for products, services and experiences this Summer.

John explains that local support comes in many forms, “LEO have given us numerous supports over the years. The biggest help they have given was initially to get our e-commerce website up and running, and they recently have given us further support to improve it to the standard we want it at. This has allowed us to push our business in the direction which we want. The vast customer base we have achieved throughout Ireland and Europe could not have been achieved without our online presence and marketing.”

Since January, the Local Enterprise Offices have approved over 11,000 Trading Online Vouchers for small Irish businesses, helping them to create or adapt their online trading presence under the National Digital Strategy. This was one of the most significant supports for local businesses, along with the Business Continuity Voucher, enabling them to trade online, when physical trade was reduced or restricted.

That support for on-line has been essential to Suir Sprayers, especially over the past 18 months, “We are always trying to make what we have more efficient and currently the biggest way we are trying to do this is to move as many sales to our website as possible. During Covid we saw a massive shift to customers ordering through our online shop and availing of the free shipping which we offer on all orders over €100. This allowed for customers to get the parts they required delivered next day and minimised the number of customers calling to our premises during the pandemic.”

The Look for Local campaign, supported by Enterprise Ireland and the Local Authorities, aims to raise awareness of the benefit of spending in your local area. This campaign seeks to strengthen that sentiment and to educate consumers on the domino effect that local spending has throughout their community.
