O'Halloran Wood Turners

Ambrose O’Halloran and Brid O’Halloran have been woodturning in their studio in Cregboy, Claregalway for the past twenty years and share their passion for working with wood.

They have three main strands to their business:

  1. Making small items which we sell wholesale into the retail trade.  The items they make for the retail trade are lamps, bud vases and wooden jewellery - brooches and pendants.
  2. Commissions for both individual and corporate gifts, such as bowls, artistic plaques and platters etc.
  3. Teaching - they run woodturning classes in their studio and they offer four different woodturning classes ranging from absolute beginners to people who have some experience of woodturning and want to advance their skills.

"All of these activities reinforce the other and all lead to our continuing search for knowledge not only within turning but within the decorative arts field as a whole. As such we describe ourselves as students of woodturning and we are constantly adding to our knowledge as we explore this very exciting woodturning field. Our whole Philosophy is not to simply ask How? but to ask Why?. Once you know the why you can always figure out the How's."

Craft Wood turners have received both financial and soft supports from the Galway County & City Enterprise Board. Visit Ambrose and Brid's website www.cregboy.com
