First Steps to Exporting for Micro Companies

This First Steps to Exporting has been designed in conjunction with LEO Limerick to help their Micro companies to take the first steps to export markets. This programme will give owners and managers the opportunity to map out the steps for their own individual export plan. It will provide each company with the knowledge, and confidence to take the first steps.

We understand that taking these first steps to exporting can be challenging on your own. This programme will be delivered in a practical manner where peer learning and networking will be encouraged. Key topics will include: “understanding new markets”, “generating Leads”, “capacity and capability building”, “negotiating in markets”, “attending international events”, and “understanding  supports”.

The programme will be delivered over 3 half -day workshops, on Tuesday, 21st September 2021, Tuesday, 28th September and Tuesday, 5th October. The key outcomes will include:

  • 3 practical workshops delivered weekly online from 9.30am to 12 noon.
  • First Steps Export plan that can be used a strategic roadmap on your export journey
  • Identification of trade shows/ trade mission with funding supports
  • Network development, identification of supports and partners
  • Identified relevant sources of funding and supports

 

The 3 week workshop will cover a range of topics including:

1)      Exporting Opportunity Development – Situation review, creating a plan, market research and available supports

2)      Export Market development – Finding customers in international markets, export promotion, competitor analysis in new markets

3)      Export Essentials – Identifying and attending trade shows, managing cultural difference when selling and negotiation, distribution channels and logistics

The workshop will be delivered via Zoom, so please ensure all microphones and cameras are working to take part on this interactive workshop.

The workshop will be delivered by Theresa Mulvihill Smart Marketing Limited. https://smartmarketing.ie/. Theresa has many years experience working with businesses in developing international markets and strategies. Guest speakers and case studies may be used as part of this programme.
