SMALL BUSINESS ACCOUNTS Using Excel

Tutor: Sarah McGuinness BA(Hons) ACCA T/a SM Accounting Solutions

Programme Duration: 18th & 25th October  9.30a.m. to 5p.m.

Venue: County Buildings, Mullingar

This course is delivered by a chartered certified accountant and tax advisor Sarah McGuinness, who has nearly twenty years experience working with sole traders and limited companies. This course is designed as a workshop with opportunities to participant and contribute. The aim of the course is to give the participants confidence in working with their business’s books and records, and the knowledge needed to keep proper books of account and to deal with Revenue obligations. It will also give participants an understanding of small business accounts, especially the Profit and Loss Account and its impact on the business, it’s future and the business’s income taxes.

Day 2 of this course will introduce participants to setting up a simple, straight-forward, user-friendly bookkeeping system for their business using Microsoft Excel. It will teach participants how to keep proper accounting Books on their computer and demonstrate and practice setting up bookkeeping spread-sheets and using basic Excel formula for greater efficiency. Participants will also be shown how to compile a VAT return and Profit and Loss account by linking to the bookkeeping spreadsheets.

Sarah seeks to remove the ‘fear-factor’ associated with working with accounts and to

break down the jargon into its most straight-forward form!
