Covid Restrictions Spur New Start-Up That Offers Revolutionary Solution to Senior Home Care
20 jobs created immediately in Carlow by Halo Care, which is committed to delivering care in the community and empowering senior adults to ‘Age in Place’.
Launched today, HaloCare is the brainchild of business leaders David Walsh, Niall Kelly, and Dr. Johnny Walker, and uses cutting edge technology to enable older people to live a safer, more independent, and better quality of life for longer in their own homes.
HaloCare is a new start-up that aims to support home carers and revolutionise the senior care sector. Born from the impact the Covid-19 pandemic has had on vulnerable people in society, particularly the older population and those with underlying conditions, HaloCare offers a suite of intelligent technologies supported by live, expert medical support to provide peace of mind for its users and their support group.
Core to the HaloCare offering is a range of unintrusive, contactless technologies installed in the home to complement family carers, professional homecare providers, medics, and community nurses. The result is around the clock support system for senior adults, their carers, and their circle of care. Services offered by HaloCare include monitoring of vital health data, fall prevention, personal and environmental safety, social and cultural interconnectivity, and much more.
Incorporating artificial intelligence and machine learning, HaloCare’s proprietary software manages information from smart technology installed in the home. The entire system is underpinned by an experienced team of nurses and care specialists, available around the clock from the company’s 24/7 Care Hub in Carlow town. The result is a greater independence for the senior adult to live in their own home, increased health and safety awareness, and reduced loneliness, whilst their privacy and dignity is protected at all times.
20 new jobs have been created immediately in HaloCare. Additional employees will be recruited throughout 2021, across installation, the Care Hub and in R&D as the company focuses on developing new technologies that will predict the likelihood of a fall or other incident based on the person’s movements around the home.
