The Local Enterprise Office provides a variety of resources for teachers in Primary and Secondary Schools who want to help their students understand the world of Enterprise.

Student Enterprise Awards

Organised by the County and City Local Enterprise Office, the Student Enterprise Awards is an exciting and rewarding programme that gives second level students in Ireland the chance to set up and run their own business while at school. The programme is run in schools all over Ireland for first year right up to leaving cert students.   Over 10,500 students all over the country take part in the Awards every year which culminate in a spectacular finale at the National Finals held in April. Now in its 10th year the Student Enterprise Awards bring a taste of real life business into the classroom. Students get to experience all the realities of entrepreneurship from coming up with their business idea and writing a business plan to producing the product, research the marketing, promoting the business and managing the books.

Objectives of Student Enterprise

  • To give students practical, real life experience of setting up and running their own business
  • To encourage students to think about entrepreneurship and self-employment as a viable career choice
  • To enhance the teaching of business and entrepreneurship in schools by combining class room learning with real life experience

Student Enterprise Awards - open to students in the Carlow Region In Secondary School, Transition Year in particular.
