Carlow County Council’s – Local Enterprise Office , Institute of Technology Carlow and County Carlow Chamber of Commerce have teamed up to deliver a series of seminars over the coming four weeks to ensure that companies are aware of the supports that are available to them post Brexit and also to assist with planning for the economic challenges presented by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The seminar series kicks off on 16th February 2021 and runs for 4 weeks.

Each of the four seminars have a key theme and are delivered by experts in finance, state supports, education and innovation and are designed to be a practical one hour engagement so that the business community understand the breath of supports available to them in 2021.

Speaking about the seminar series, Colin Duggan, President of County Carlow Chamber said “It is essential that businesses work together and stay informed in these challenging times and we as a Chamber are delighted to be involved and supporting this seminar series which is all about giving companies clear and concise information on the various supports and how they can be accessed at local level”.

IT Carlow has offered a variety of practical innovation solutions to local companies as a results of Brexit and the pandemic and Brian Ogilvie, Head of Research and Commercialisation Support said “we have found during the pandemic that many companies have taken the opportunity to innovate and reinvent as part of their response to the pandemic and IT Carlow have a variety of practical supports for the County Carlow and South East business community”.

Speaking about supports available to the business community, Kieran Comerford, Head of Economic Development & Enterprise in Carlow County Councils Local Enterprise Office said, “While start-ups and businesses face significant challenges, opportunities have also arisen and we have seen continued interest in people wishing to start their own business and access supports. The team in the Local Enterprise Office are continually in awe of the incredible courage and innovation shown by County Carlow’s  business owners and employers in the last year and we will continue to play our part in supporting them in some small way”

Welcoming the supports for business, Cllr. Tom O’Neill, Cathaoirleach of Carlow County Council said, “I welcome this series of seminars and believe that business people who attend will be better informed about the supports available to them”. The Cathaoirleach continued to say, “the seminar series is part of our collective response to the Covid Pandemic and forms part of our collective actions under our latest Covid Economic Response Action Plan”. Acknowledging the support for business provided by the Council as a result of the pandemic, the Cathaoirleach continued to say “we will continue to support local business in whatever way we can and during Enterprise Week 2021, which will take place on the first week in March, I will be announcing our capacity development supports for 2021”.
