Carlow County Council takes part in Train the Trainer Course as part of ATHENA International Project in Lithuania to bring back Digital Female Enterprise Development Skills

As part of the  “Athena” which is funded under Erasmus + , Carlow County Council has participated in a Train the Trainer Programme in Digital Female Enterprise Development which will result in the delivery of new workshops in early 2023. The project aims to adapt and improve work methodologies and tools applied to assist and encourage women entrepreneurship, regarding learning from digital during the pandemic and develop tools for capacity development utilizing digital.

Speaking about the programme, Cathaoirleach of Carlow County Council Cllr Brian O’Donoghue said, “I am delighted to see two employees of Carlow County Council – Local Enterprise Office, Melissa Doyle and Linda Neville, being given this great opportunity to take part in this international Train the Trainer Programme”.  Concluding, the Cathaoirleach said “The benefits of the Train the Trainer programme is its effectiveness to teach new skills and knowledge to the participants. By being involved in this programme, the level of new competencies that can be gained is invaluable”.

Project lead for the Athena project is Melissa Doyle, Business Advisor with the Local Enterprise Office said, “The Train the Trainer programme took place in Kaunas, Lithuania over a course of five days where in the participants were provided with a compelling opportunity for professional development”. Melissa continued to say, “The main outcome of the Train the Trainer programme was development training aiming to increase the skills about new COVID19 situation and how to adapt the work to the new-reality, including digital, online and alternative methods and tools”.

Linda Neville, Grant Administrator with the Local Enterprise Office said “Over the five days training, the content and structure of the course was perfectly aimed at my skills and techniques have excelled. The course gave me the opportunity to meet a wider group of people from around the world to exchange ideas and practices”. Linda continued to say, “The skills and knowledge gained in the programme has prepared me for the future and has boosted my confidence”.
