Cash Prizes to reward County Carlow’s Digital Heroes

County Carlow’s Digital Awards (Formally Web Awards) will acknowledge and recognise the achievements of Carlow businesses in creating their Digital Offering and promoting their business online. The Awards will provide Carlow businesses with a great opportunity to showcase their Digital Offering.

The Awards are being organised by Local Enterprise Office Carlow in Carlow County Council together in association with SETU Carlow, The Business Post and Content Plan.

In total there will be six category winners who together with the overall winner will share in the prize fund. The Awards will acknowledge and promote businesses based in County Carlow who have developed their digital and web marketing platforms as part of their product offering. The Awards are open to recipients of Trading Online Vouchers and businesses with less than 10 full time employees based in County Carlow.

Judging for the County Carlow Digital Awards will take place early in March with an Awards ceremony scheduled for the 23rd of March 2023.

Shortlisted entrants will benefit from an independent evaluation of their Digital Offering by independent expert judges. Valuable feedback to help benchmark their Digital Offering against other businesses will be provided.

Digital Offerings will be judged on the criteria of Design, Ease of use, Copywriting, Interactivity, Use of technology, Impact & Benefit, Innovation and Content.

Brian O’Donoghue, Cathaoirleach of Carlow County Council said: “Carlow County Council’s commitment to supporting our local businesses plays a crucial role in ensuring a strong local economy. It is fantastic to see that so many Carlow businesses have increased their business through availing of a Trading Online Voucher from our Local Enterprise Office”.

Jim Woods, Business Advisor with the Local Enterprise Office said “We are delighted to acknowledge the Carlow businesses who have created and maintained their Digital Offerings in furtherance of their business objectives. Over 350 Carlow businesses have now availed of over €700k through our Trading Online Voucher scheme to improve their Digital Offering and promote their business.    

Muirghin Brophy, Communications Officer with SETU Carlow noted that “as a Technological University we are acutely aware of the importance of businesses utilising all possible routes to market and the significant part that having a Digital presence plays in any business’ marketing strategy.”  

Eileen McCabe, Co-founder at Content Plan said “as a business that provides marketing and digital services expertise to other businesses, Content Plan is delighted to see the efforts and achievements of small businesses being recognised by these Awards. Everyday billions of people across the globe decide on where to spend their money based on businesses’ Digital Offerings. If a business is not effectively using its Digital Offering to engage with its audience, it is missing a real opportunity”.

Award Details:

The Awards aim to acknowledge and promote SMEs based in County Carlow who have developed their digital and web marketing platforms as part of their product offering. The Awards are open to recipients of Trading Online Vouchers and SMEs with less than 10 full time employees based in County Carlow.

The winner of each of six categories will receive:

  • €500 cash prize
  • A trophy

The overall winner will receive €1,000 cash

  • All winning businesses will benefit from being featured in the Business Post.

Each category will have up to 4 shortlisted entrants who will receive an independent evaluation of their Digital Offering by independent expert judges. This will provide valuable feedback to help benchmark the businesses against other industry Digital Offering.

The award categories are: 

  • Digital in Export

This Award recognises and rewards company who has utilized digital to best promote and develop its business to export markets.  

  • Digital in Professional Services

This Award recognises and rewards the company that best promotes and develops its business using Digital its business in providing customized, knowledge-based services to clients. 

  • Digital in Consumer Services

This Award recognises and rewards the business which best promotes and develops its offering to address the wants and needs of individual customers by using digital tools. 

  • Digital in Manufacturing

This Award recognises and rewards a business that has utilized digital tools to develop and enhance their products and services. 

  • Digital in Tourism

This Award recognises and rewards a company that promotes the best consumer experience within the tourism sector. 

  • The People’s Choice Award

The People’s Champion! All shortlisted entries will participate in a public vote held on the Carlow LEO Facebook Account. 

  • Overall Winner

This Award goes to the website which is judged to be the overall best overall Digital Company

Entries open from 20th January 2023 to 28th February 2023. Finalists will receive 2 free tickets to the County Carlow Digital Awards which are scheduled to be held in Ballykealey House on Thursday the 23rd of March 2023 @ 5.00pm
