Craft makers can win a photography package or attendance to a conference to Oslo

Irish craft makers have an exciting opportunity to put their skills and profile on an international stage gaining exposure and network with other craft makers.

Craft businesses can be in with a chance to win a photography package to help enhance and showcase their business and craft skill, in association with Craft Hub co-funded by the Creative Europe programme of the European union. 

Craft businesses across Ireland have the opportunity to engage and immerse themselves in the wider European craft community. Carlow County Council’s - Local Enterprise Office as part of Craft Hub are having a contest across social media channels. Craft Hub is an EU funded Creative Europe Programme which aims to foster the professional development of creative careers and their work across borders, to reach new European audiences and develop innovative artistic models designed to help strengthen and sustain the arts and cultural sectors here in Ireland.

In order to enter the competition applicants are expected to make a profile on craft hub’s website https://www.crafthub.eu/practitioner/. The website will provide a huge amount of information about the processes and outcomes of craft, connects crafters from throughout Europe and showcases each person’s skill in a comprehensive and informative way. Within the website there is a directory of craft makers, showing their skills and processes. To enter this competition, craft makers can create their profile on the website linked above.  A profile will be chosen at random to win. The winner(s) will receive a prize of up to €1500 photography package, to use for their craft business. All entrants also have the opportunity to win an invitation to attend Craft Hub’s closing conference in Oslo, Norway on the 26th & 27th of October 2023.

Councillor Brian O ’Donoghue, of Carlow County Council commented on the project “The council welcomes this project, it is a great way for craft makers to get their business and skills out there. Networking with other craft makers across the European union will be invaluable to their development.”

Speaking about the competition, Stacey Phelan, EU project administrator with Carlow County Council said “This is an amazing opportunity for both fledgling crafter enterprises and those who have their businesses up and running. Craft Hub is a huge project that connects crafter networks throughout Europe. This project offers applicants the chance to spread their name and skills throughout Europe and network with like-minded people and artists.”

This project offers craft makers an excellent opportunity to broadcast their skills and processes on an international stage. Going forward the craft hub website will serve as a digital repository for crafters to learn about other skills, processes and outcomes.
