Fulvio - Cooking up a festive feast at Carlow's Culinary Christmas

Carlow County Council & Carlow Tourism announced details of “Carlow’s Culinary Christmas” which is a special event to be held in the George Bernard Shaw Theatre in Visual on 9th December 2015 designed to celebrate Carlow’s Quality Food & Drink Manufacturers & Tourism Venues for the festive season.

As part of the event a Christmas themed cooking demonstration by top Irish Chef, Catherine Fulvio will take place and the event will be hosted by Newstalk’s Collette Fitzpatrick who will be leading the conversation with special guests at the Chef’s Table.

The two-hour 'Festive Feast' will illustrate how to spice up the traditional Christmas Menus using locally sourced produce. Fulivio will also give some tips on how to pre-prepare for a stress free Christmas in the kitchen and show how to make a variety of festive dishes.

The event is being rolled out as part of the Carlow Food Tourism Project. This exciting new food tourism project has been created as a result of a funding application to the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine and represents an investment in marketing for Food Tourism Enterprises for County Carlow during 2015 spearheaded by Carlow County Council.

Carlow County Council Chief Executive Kathleen Holohan said the local authority was delighted to lead the initiative ,Holohan commented that “Carlow County Council is committed to working collaboratively with stakeholders on a number of initiatives in the food sector, including Food Academy which is a partnership between the Local Enterprise Offices , Bord Bia & Supervalu”, Holohan continued to say “Showing our talent at local level is of paramount importance to Carlow County Council and this event is aimed at getting across the message of shopping local while showcasing for the customer the potential of locally produced products” Holohan concluded by saying “the food sector has significant potential for County Carlow food producers and may act as an economic driver for food tourism throughout the county”.

The event is being hosted in association with Carlow Tourism, and Chairperson, Cllr. John Murphy said “Whether you are an aspiring home chef, or simply want to do something different with a group of friends, this promises to be a very enjoyable evening filled with delicious recipe ideas, tricks of the trade and much more”.This event is free and open to all and booking is essential.
