Grange village led design statement successful pilot for future strategic development

Cathaoirleach of  Carlow County Council , Cllr. John Pender has welcomed the publication of the Grange Village Led Design Statement supported under the Town & Village Renewal Scheme as a pilot new way of working by Carlow County Council to collaboratively work with communities to shape future projects. 

Following awarding of funding under the 2019 Town & Village Scheme , Deirdre Black & Associates developed in partnership with Carlow County Council and the Community a shared vision for grange as a pilot process.

Commenting on the pilot process , Kathleen Holohan , Chief Executive with Carlow County Council said that “as a Council we must put in place a vision for each Town & Village in order for County Carlow to punch above its weight in terms of competitive funding and this pilot was designed to demonstrate the process and considerations in delivering a shared vision statements in partnership with communities” , Holohan continued to say “while Grange is a relatively small area we can now scale the concept to strategically work on different areas in County Carlow and our next plan will be developed for Hacketstown as part of the 2020 Town & Village Renewal Scheme” concluding Holohan said “I’d like to firstly thank the community for actively engaging in this process and secondly the in-house team who worked on the project”. 

Commenting on the content of the report , Cllr. John Pender , Cathaoirleach said “I’m delighted to see the outcome of this process which gives a clear list of projects which should be developed to enhance Grange as a place to live and experience” , the Cathaoirleach continued to say “this process is  a very exciting and innovative example of how local communities can become actively involved in environmental planning and management matters and in doing so creating a vision for the future of their village”. The Cathaoirleach concluded by saying “I look forward to the delivery of €40,500 of works based on the recommendations of this report over the coming months”.
