Innovative Carlow Concrete Company wins County Enterprise Award for 2018

                                                           

County Enterprise Awards one of many highlights during ‘Local Enterprise Week’

An innovative international business from Garryhill called Carlow Concrete - Burren Precast Group has won the County Enterprise Award for 2018.

The top prize of €2,000 went to company who will now represent Local Enterprise Office (Carlow) at the National Enterprise Awards, which celebrates its 20th anniversary on May 24th.

Carlow Concrete manufactures a diverse range of precast concrete products and solutions to every Sector of the Construction Industry. The company offers the most advanced and innovative precast concrete solutions available on the market today all of which are fully supported by our highly experienced Technical Team.

Other winners at the awards ceremony, held at the Stephouse Hotel , Borris, Co. Carlow included Café de Mode , Silver Spear Gin , The Hair and Beauty Chalet & Equinox.

Judging is taking place in April and Carlow Concrete - Burren Precast Group will be competing against 30 other finalists from every local authority area for a share of the €40,000 prize fund. The Mansion House in Dublin is the venue for awards ceremony in May and categories this year include ‘Best Export Business,’ ‘Best Start Up Business’ and ‘Innovation,’ in addition to eight regional awards.

Speaking during Local Enterprise Week Kieran Comerford, Head of Enterprise with Local Enterprise Office (Carlow) said: “Carlow Concrete - Burren Precast Group has already become a success story and the judges were particularly impressed by their success in domestic and export markets and their use of innovation and technology. As Local Enterprise Offices celebrate twenty years of the National Enterprise Awards in 2018, Carlow are proud to be represented by Carlow Concrete - Burren Precast Group in this extra special year.”

7 other local businesses were also shortlisted this year, and they were Café de Mode , Silver Spear Gin , The Hair and Beauty Chalet & Equinox , Matchday , Newhaven Kitchen & Bedrooms Limited , Soul of Crete.

Speaking at the awards, Kathleen Holohan , Chief Executive of Carlow County Council said “we are delighted to once again showcase the start-up talent in emerging indigenous enterprises in County Carlow” , Holohan continued to say “these companies represent a sample of the variety of enterprises that can be supported , grow and flourish in the enterprise Eco-System in County Carlow and Carlow County Council looks forward to showcasing this company and supporting all the finalists into the future”, Holohan concluded by saying “awards like this present a significant opportunity for companies to showcase their talent and innovation and gain significant recognition for their achievements” and that “Carlow County Council is committed to the support of the business community in County Carlow in whatever way it can in order to help our enterprise community realise the opportunities of the marketplace”.

The awards were just one of the many highlights of Local Enterprise Week, which comes to an end on March 9th. All over the country, the 31 Local Enterprise Offices have been jointly running over 300 events aimed at start-ups, aspiring entrepreneurs and small businesses in their area, to mark the week.
