Local Enterprise Office Carlow celebrates International Women’s Day on 8th March 2023 with Digital Expert Joanne Sweeney Panel Event.

International Women's Day (IWD) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.

Local Enterprise Office Carlow hosts the Powerhouse – Digital Marketing Event to mark International Women’s Day on the 8th March 2023 in the Seven Oaks Hotel, Carlow at 12pm. The event will consist of a panel discussion with Annette Fox CEO of Carlow County Development Partnership, Norah Ryan Managing Director of Barrow Consultancy & Training Carlow and Melissa Doyle Business Advisor in Carlow Local Enterprise Office with Joanne Sweeney at the helm as MC.

Joanne Sweeney is the founder of Digital Training Institute, a published author and a passionate podcaster. She’s currently writing her second digital marketing book. A former broadcast journalist, Joanne went back behind the mic over two years ago to launch her weekly podcast, JSB Talks Digital. The 25-minute show has 6 segments – social media news, expert interview, shout-outs, Ask JSB, JSB’s column and the social media tool of the week. Joanne is also the creator of Public Sector Marketing Pros, a dedicated hub for those working in Government agencies. Joanne is also the creator and host of the Public Sector Digital Marketing Summit and accredited Diploma in Digital Communications for Public Sector.

International Women's Day takes place on March 8 every year, this year, the global campaign theme is #EmbraceEquity.  Speaking about the event, Cllr. Brian O’Donoghue, Cathaoirleach of Carlow County Council said, “International Women’s Day is a great opportunity for female entrepreneurs to recognise women for their achievements in business and celebrates women's contributions to society, raises awareness about the fight for gender parity, and inspires support for organisations that help women globally.”

Melissa Doyle, Business Advisor, Carlow Local Enterprise Office said, “International Women’s Day is not only to encourage worldwide engagement, it provides support, awareness, educates, and accelerates gender parity.” Melissa concluded saying “This event will provide networking and learning opportunities to empower and inspire those in attendance.  We are encouraging all our female entrepreneurs to join us in celebrating International Women’s Day.”
