Recon Carlow Moves to Tullow for the first time

The Local Enterprise Office (LEO) Carlow announces its flagship training initiative, will be held in Tullow for the first time

Recon Carlow is to be run from November 10th to November 21st 2014

The LEO, based in Enterprise House, O’Brien Road, Carlow, is the support unit whose main responsibility is to help those who want to start or develop a business. One of the bedrocks of the LEO’s program of supports is Recon Carlow.  Recon Carlow is a Start Your Own Business support program with a difference. It is 10 intensive days of training, support and personal development. It is designed to help individuals with a business idea or those thinking about self-employment and whom are looking for inspiration and motivation. It is a chance for participants to RECONSTRUCT their careers and get their businesses up and running.

As part of the LEO’s on going drive to support rural centres in Carlow, Recon is being hosted in Tullow for the first time.

Kieran Comerford, of Carlow LEO told us that “The Recon Carlow program will have up to twenty participants from all over the county; the majority of whom will go on to successfully launch and grow their businesses. The training helps individuals with a business idea to clearly identify their target market, helps them build a business plan and develop a sales and marketing strategy. The course also helps trainees develop as individuals by bridging some of the skills and confidence gaps they may have as promoters of a business”

He added “Recon Carlow would not be possible without the support of the local business community who offer practical advice and support to participants. Some of the business community are also contributing to the suite of prizes we have available to the participant that excels during the program”.

The further supports available to participants that most impresses the panel of judges are:

  • One Year’s free Carlow County Chamber of Commerce membership and all the benefits of Chamber membership
  • Start-up print package from Sign Management Services
  • Free mentoring and business advice from McNabb Consulting
  • €200 worth of services from Enterprise House

Recon Carlow is specifically designed for anyone with a business idea, anyone who has recently started a new business, unemployed people looking for a new beginning and recent graduates wanting to explore self-employment. Participants will learn about their own strengths, possible legal structures for a business, Tax, VAT, bookkeeping and they will also be given the tools to generate a business plan, build a sales strategy, build a marketing strategy and learn how to present themselves and their business idea.

Recon Carlow is running from the 10th of November for two weeks in the Community Centre, Tullow, and for an application form contact the course co-ordinator Kilian Duignan on kduignan@managementresource.ie  or 087/6950382
