University Enterprise Programmes Supporting Carlow Businesses

South East Technological University & Carlow County Council’s Local Enterprise Office offer 60 places on subsidised Enterprise, Marketing & Digital Marketing Programmes for SME’s commencing in January 2023.

County Carlow businesses who want to grow by developing their staff skillsets are invited to take part in a series of highly subsidised Digital, Marketing & Enterprise Development programmes delivered the Faculty of Lifelong Learning at the South East Technological University in partnership with Carlow County Council’s Local Enterprise Office.

Speaking about these programmes, Cllr. Brian O’Donoghue, Cathaoirleach of Carlow County Council said “I am delighted that Carlow County Council and its Local Enterprise Office are working with the South East Technological University and its team in Lifelong Learning to assist companies in Carlow to grow in a strategic way by enhancing their workforce’s skillsets.”

The Cathaoirleach continued to say “The business environment is constantly changing and these programmes will help future proof Carlow businesses. The programmes will also help to grow the courage that flows in our entrepreneurs and help them make brave decisions around change and future development. Carlow businesses supporting their key staff to participate in these programmes will greatly enhance their own strategic development by adding to the knowledge and skillsets available within the business.”

Dr Joseph Collins, Head of Faculty at Lifelong Learning at the South East Technological University commented “We are delighted to offer this opportunity to County Carlow SME’s.  With the current labour shortage a great way to secure talent from your pool of employees is investing in their skillsets and this partnership provides SME’s with this opportunity. We know in Lifelong Learning at SETU Carlow that providing continuing education programmes for your team will help your organisation improve so it is a win for all involved”.

The programmes available to Carlow businesses through this partnership are Level 7 Certificates in Strategy for Innovation and Decision Making, and Applied Strategic Management and Level 8 Certificates in Graphic Design, Digital Media, and Digital Marketing. The regular price for participation in one of these programmes range from €400-€800. Businesses will pay a heavily subsidised fee of €150 for each participant who is selected for one of the programmes. This represents a significant investment by the Local Enterprise Office into the skills development of Carlow enterprises. A total of 60 places will be made available at these subsidised rates and each of the programmes will run at nights commencing in early 2023. Successful completion of a programme will see the participant awarded a qualification from South East Technological University.

Speaking about the benefits to County Carlow SME’s, Séamus Doran, Assistant Head of Economic Development & Enterprise in Carlow County Council’s Local Enterprise Office said “In today’s business environment, local businesses must constantly support their staff to increase their skillset in a way that can add to the growth and development of the business. This partnership between the Local Enterprise Office and South East Technological University offers a unique opportunity for businesses to add to their internal knowledge while at the same time providing their staff with a valuable university qualification at a heavily subsidised rate.
