Urbact – Community Engagement Event

Carlow County Council, working with the local community through the URBACT Local Group, have been involved in a European Project focuses on the Governance and development of Community Gardens over the past 15 months. We have now come to the end of the project and are delighted to invite the community to the launch of the A Guide for Design & Implementation of Community Gardens and Allotments for County Carlow and presentation of the project outputs which will be held in the Carlow Exchange on 27th October 2022 @ 5.00pm.

The agenda for the event is as follows:

  • Opening Words – Seamus Doran – Carlow County Council
  • Launch of A Guide for Design & Implementation of Community Gardens and Allotments for County Carlow by Cllr. Brian O’Donoghue, Cathaoirleach of Carlow County Council
  • Our Carlow Urbact Journey – Cllr. Fintan Phelan, Mayor of Carlow Municipal District.

Following the formal launch and dissemination event Community Garden expert, Dee Sewell will facilitate a community design challenge where community groups from all aspects of community life will have 2 hours to design their own community garden. This will be facilitated over a community meal in newly opened Carlow Exchange from local producers.  At the end of the challenge the 3 winning groups will be provided with €1,500 worth of prizes to support their community development journey provided by Carlow County Council.  This event is being run in conjunction with the Carlow PPN.  The event will conclude at 7.30pm.

This will be an exciting opportunity to hear about the project and engage in a creative community process and we hope to have as many members of the community as possible there.
