130 companies to pitch their business to be in a chance to win €4,000 worth of advertising with KCLR

Over 130 companies across County Carlow have participated in the Business Box and now they are in a chance to win €4,000 worth of advertising with KCLR with the winner being announced live on KCLR on Saturday 20th December 2020. The companies have from today (9th December 2020) to 16th December 2020 at 5.00pm to send in their pitch to be in a chance to win €4,000 worth of advertising with KCLR.

“The Business Box” was a series of PR & Marketing support programmes designed for the County Carlow SME Community to support the promotion and marketing of their business and ran from October to December this year. Participants took part in a series of courses that brought together a series of Marketing and PR experts to offer their expertise.

Acknowledging the support to County Carlow companies and opening the entry process to the competition, Tom O’Neill Cathaoirleach with Carlow County Council said “I’m delighted with the level of engagement with County Carlow companies in the many supports we have provided in 2020 which are designed to help promote their businesses these have included the Business Box, Be Local Online, Shop Carlow and Look for Local”. The Cathaoirleach continued to say, “during 2020, in order for us to provide the services to the business community we have had fantastic support from National Government, Enterprise Ireland but also from volunteers in the Business Community who have assisted with the response to Covid-19”. “In particular as Cathaoirleach I’d like thank our Approvals & Evaluation Committee members, volunteer mentors as part of the Business House, volunteers involved in the Chambers & Carlow Tourism who have supported us in supporting the business community and in order for us to show our appreciation as a once off we have decided to donate all the client fees amounting to €2,000 from the Business Box for the Carlow Lions Club - Christmas Food Appeal”

Over the last 30 years Carlow Lions Club have been organising the Christmas Food Appeal with the Society of St Vincent de Paul. Due to Covid 19 the traditional food hampers have been replaced this year by food vouchers.

Speaking about the pitch process, Pauline Hoctor, Senior Enterprise Development Officer with Carlow County Council, Local Enterprise Office said, “we are delighted to be able to work with KCLR on this project and what we have seen in 2020 is many creative ways of companies promoting themselves and their products and services”. Pauline continued to say “in 2020, over 2000 individuals have participated in Training and Programmes designed to support the business community respond to Covid and also prepare for Brexit”. Concluding Pauline said, “We are delighted to support the Lions Club and acknowledge the volunteers who have supported our Team in Enterprise House during 2020 and we would remind people to look for local in 2020 and support local employment in our rural towns and villages”.
