Heineken Pan Celtic Pub Trail to Set Carlow Abuzz with Music and Tradition this Easter

The streets of Carlow are set to ring with the sounds of the fiddle, harp, and pipe this Easter as the town hosts the International Pan Celtic Festival from 7th to 11th April 2026. A cornerstone of this year’s festivities is the newly unveiled Heineken Pan Celtic Pub Trail, an initiative that promises to transform the town’s local venues into a vibrant network of Celtic culture.

Up to 15 of Carlow’s  pubs and venues will participate in this year's session trail, with staff donning festival t-shirts to welcome musicians and fans from all six Celtic nations. This "most amazing trad session trail" will feature a continuous schedule of concerts, informal gigs, and high-energy sessions across the town.

The designated trail includes a "who’s who" of Carlow hospitality: Irishmans, the Seven Oaks Hotel, Ewings, Dinn Rí, Tullys, Teach Dolmain, The Barracks, Scraggs, Harry Burkes, The Tavern, The Thatch, Carpenters, the Woodford Dolmen Hotel, and Carpe Diem. A full listing of performances for each venue will be available in the official festival programme.

Paul Doogue, Mayor of Carlow, emphasized that the influx of thousands of international visitors provides a massive lift to the local workforce.

"The Pan Celtic Festival is not just a cultural gem; it is a vital economic driver. With an estimated visitor spend of over €1 million this year, we are seeing a direct and positive impact on local employment. From our hospitality sector to retail and transport, the festival supports jobs and showcases Carlow as a world-class destination for business and tourism. It is a win-win for our community."

The festival is a result of extensive collaboration between local government, the organisers, and the business community. Linda Culleton, Economic Development Officer at Carlow County Council, highlighted the unique synergy of the event:

"Success in economic development is about working together to create a unique regional identity. By integrating our rich Celtic heritage with the local business landscape through initiatives like the Pub Trail, we are making a real 'cultural business difference.' This partnership approach ensures that the festival delivers not only social joy but long-term economic advantages for every entrepreneur and business owner in the county."

Pan Celtic ’26 in Carlow promises to be a hive of festive fun this Easter.
