4 Week Human Resource Management for Small Business Owners Course

This course will work with small business owner/managers helping you to navigate the new remote and hybrid working landscape by gaining an appreciation of the employment contract, issues of employment equality, employee entitlements, as well as matters relating to contract termination and redundancy.

 

Session 1: The Employment Relationship

  • Outline on what to include in an employment contract
  • How a contract interacts with HR Policies
  • Difference between contract of service and contract for service and when to offer each
  • Protection of fixed term workers legislation (temporary staff)

 

Session 2: Equality in the Workplace

  • Overview of equality legislation
    • Direct and indirect discrimination
    • Key case law
  • Understanding of diversity and inclusion in the workplace

 

Session 3: Employee Entitlements

  • Outline of key employment entitlement areas to include:
    • Various forms of leave
      • Organisation of working time
      • Annual leave
      • Family Leave
      • Brief overview on H&S as it relates to employment law
    • Brief overview on disciplinary and grievance processes

 

Session 4: Contract Termination and Redundancy

  • Unfair Dismissals Legislation
  • Process for redundancy / selection of same
    • Redundancy calculator
    • Supports

 

 

Learning Outcomes:

After participating in this course, you will:

 

  • Have the knowledge and understanding of the HR management and policies required for a small business.
  • Have a better understanding of what the employment relationship, equality in the workplace, employee entitlements and contract termination entails and why this information is important to know when running a business.
  • Know the relevant legislations for each area/topic outlined above.

 

Course Duration: 4x Evenings (consecutive weeks) from 6:30pm – 9:30pm / start date: Wednesday 28th September 2022

 

Delivery Methodology

This workshop will be held remotely online via Zoom. This session will be highly engaging and relevant through interactive learning, individual approach, use of audio-visual materials. 

A Zoom link will be sent to all registered participants the day before the course.
