Student Enterprise Programme

Student Enterprise Programme for Secondary Schools 2021/22

Our Local Enterprise Office's annual Enterprise Education programme for secondary school students starts again this September.

Student Enterprise 19/20 2

The Student Enterprise Programme (SEP) competition is the Local Enterprise Offices' flagship enterprise programme at second level. Approx. 17,000 students from all areas of the country participate annually. It is a practical programme that offers students the opportunity to take a business from idea stage, through market research to production, selling, record keeping, management and finally writing a comprehensive report on the business.

Students compete for prizes at school, county and national level and participation in the Student Enterprise Awards enables students to acquire and develop a wide range of personal and business attributes and skills.  For more information visit Student Enterprise Programme website

In 2010/21, over 100 Students from 15 schools across Dún Laoghaire Rathdown took part in our County Final which was held in the Royal Marine (Dún Laoghaire) on Thursday, 21st March.

The Benefits of The Schools Enterprise Programme

  • Enhances creativity and improves communication skills
  • Encourages students to consider self-employment as a career choice in the future. It is at second level that students will start thinking about their future career, therefore, exposure to entrepreneurship can have the highest impact
  • Gives students access to LEO DLR's business mentors who can advise on how best to develop business ideas
  • Students can win prizes at County and National final stages of the Programme
  • Our LEO's Enterprise Education Co-ordinator provides excellent support to our participating teachers and students
