Women in Business - Enterprise Development Programme 

Are you a Female Owner/managers or senior staff members of micro and small businesses who are at least 18 months in business and want to drive your business to the next level.

Carlow & Kilkenny Local Enterprise Offices are offering a highly subsidized female entrepreneur business development programme as part of their 2019 programme. The programme will be delivered by the professional team at Talentpool and on successful completion of the programme participants will have the knowledge and skills to enable them to sustain and grow their businesses where appropriate and have through the programme built a network of likeminded contacts.

The progamme involves 6 half day modules and 3 one to one mentoring sessions:

COURSE Dates: June 20th, 27th and then July 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th

Time: 10am - 1pm

Venue: Lord Bagenal Hotel, Leighlinbridge, Co Carlow

Session 1: Goal setting & motivation - 20th June 2019

This session is designed to give further information on proven goal-setting techniques to help improve working processes and increase confidence and motivation levels in participants working life. The session is very interactive with all handouts and material freely available so that the participants have real and useful take home material that will help them in the future

Workshop Synopsis:

  • Developing a clear vision
  • Strategic planning in life and in business
  • Writing goals: goal setting plan templates
  •  Practicing zero-based thinking (With what I know today about past situations like this one and the way that I dealt with them, would I want to do the same thing again this time?)
  • Identifying the actions that support your goal
  • Reviewing your goal progress
  • Prioritize their day for maximum results.
  • Delegate work effectively.
  • Create and use a system for achieving more from your day.
  • Getting your work and life balance on track

Session 2: Business Communication Skills – 27th June 2019                       

This session covers the some of the key ways to review and improve business communications in order to work towards improving business success.

  •  Knowing your audience
  • Establishing a problem solving protocol
  • Employing social graces
  • Emotional intelligence in business
  • Understanding nonverbal communications
  • Developing listening skills
  • How to ask questions
  •  Knowing when to be assertive
  • Refining your style

Session 3: Developing a strategy for your business – 4th July 2019

This session is designed to assist the business owner in developing a strategy for their business that is practical and achievable in the context of their business type and size.

  • Gathering information and analysing track record
  • Developing a vision statement
  • Developing a mission statement
  • Identification of strategic objectives
  • Creating practical plans
  • Managing performance
  • Review and evaluation

Session 4:  Finance/business planning  11th July 2019

This session is designed to give further information on the best practices in managing the finances of a business, the programme deals, in an easy to follow manner, the key information a business needs to ensure that their finances are kept straight.

Workshop Synopsis;

  • • Managing Cash Flow
  • • Financial Management planning
  • • Record Keeping for easy financial Management
  • • Healthy Business Credit Reporting, debtors and creditors
  • • Insurance
  • • Tax Planning and Reporting

Session 5:   Sales skills    18th July 2019

This workshop course will encourage participants develop a blueprint to create a higher level of sales to ensure they achieve their targets.

Workshop synopsis

  • Sales- if you don’t have them you don’t have a business
  • Difference between sales and Marketing
  • Taking money off people (legally!)
  • Sales closing techniques
  • What makes a great sales person
  • Sales Conversations, Scripting sales, face to face, and telephone.
  • Cold Calling
  • Networking conversations
  • Getting paid while selling, the power.

Participants will be encouraged to practice their sales pitches, having been show how to script a successful sales conversation during the programme

Session 6:  Project selection and scoping for your business 25th July 2019

This session is designed to assist the business owner to understand what their business core offerings are. The sessions will develop their skills in being able to select potential projects and business that are a good match for the offerings and size and growth potential of the business.

Workshop Synopsis:

Who is my business?

  • Defining the scope of my business
  • Growth areas for my business within my scope
  • Assessing strengths and weaknesses in potential new projects
  • Quantifying resources for project or new business
  • Managing risk
  • Creating a project plan
  • Know your new customer or client.
  • Contracts and agreements
