LOCAL ENTERPRISE OFFICE WEXFORD ANNOUNCES EXCITING LINEUP OF EVENTS FOR LOCAL ENTERPRISE WEEK 2024

 

Small businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs alike will have the opportunity to sample an array of events designed to accelerate their entrepreneurial journey and foster business growth during this year’s Local Enterprise Week in Wexford. The initiative of the Local Enterprise Offices (LEO) nationwide, supported by Enterprise Ireland and the Local Authorities, takes place from the 4th to 8th March this year across the country. Experience a week dedicated to empowering entrepreneurs in Wexford!

The week kicks off on Monday, March 4th, with a range of informative and inspiring training and business development opportunities. Upskill your team in the critical area of data analytics by participating in our online training programme entitled Introduction to Google Analytics. Be inspired by industry leader Rory O’Connor and his team at the new Scurri headquarters in Wexford as they collaborate with the LEO to host an evening entitled Techforward: Cultivating Leadership and Strategic Growth. Join Rory, CEO and founder of Scurri, as he outlines his business journey. During the course of a panel discussion with his colleagues, Rory, Jason Norvall and Gavin Murphy will share insights on the company culture and the strategic marketing and scaling strategies which has helped them to become an international success story in the tech sector. The panel will also feature LEO client Niamh Hogan who has successfully leveraged digital tools and processes to accelerate her business growth.

Day 2 is tailored for those with entrepreneurial aspirations. Explore FREE online Business Advice Clinics, where you can discuss your ideas with an experienced business consultant. Alternatively, you can make your dreams a reality by embarking on the Start Your Own Business course, a 10-week evening programme designed to help you build a solid business by equipping you with the knowledge and practical skills needed to succeed. Established business leaders and past participants of the Owner Manager Development Programme are also invited to reflect on the ambition for their company at an evening with esteemed consultant Blaise Brosnan, Management Resource Institute.

During Day 3 the LEO Trading Online Voucher Seminar will offer practical tips on how your business can leverage online tools to help you engage with your target audience and will provide practical information on how to apply for a €2500 grant to assist you to grow online sales via your website.

Day 4 is dedicated to supporting the next generation of business leaders by acknowledging the successful completion of the Student Enterprise Programme at the Wexford County Final Awards evening.

Finally, cap off the week by celebrating the achievements of women in business at our International Women's Day breakfast event. Join the LEO and Wexford County Chamber as they commemorate International Women's Day 2024 and 'Inspire Inclusion’ with keynote speaker Catherine Vaughan, Partner at Ernst & Young. Catherine is not only a sponsor and chair of EY’s LQBT+ network but also a GLEN Inclusion Champion and one of the 100 named OUTStanding Global Executives for the fifth consecutive year. The event will be a celebration of women's achievements, and will raise awareness, and encourage action for equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Breege Cosgrave, Head of Enterprise & Economic Development, highlights the importance of Local Enterprise Week in the annual calendar for small and medium sized businesses. “The week provides an opportunity for County Wexford’s business community to assess their position, be inspired and identify opportunities for further operational efficiency, sustainable growth, innovation and internationalisation by engaging with Local Enterprise Office staff and networking with their peers”.

Complementing the local events there are also two national online events. The first, titled "Understanding and leveraging future trends for your business," will be held on Wednesday, March 6th. The second spotlight event, focusing on sustainability, is scheduled for Thursday, March 7th. Renowned broadcaster and science and environment expert Liz Bonnin will headline the sustainability event, demonstrating how minor adjustments in your business approach can yield significant impacts, and, importantly, how to initiate these changes”.

Tom Enright, Chief Executive Officer, Wexford County Council reiterates that the Local Enterprise Office remains dedicated to empowering and assisting small business owners on an ongoing basis. The growth and success of Local Enterprise Week is a testament to the importance of this initiative which provides learning and networking opportunities and serves as a catalyst for transforming vision into tangible action. It is initiatives like this together with the suite of financial supports provided by the Local Enterprise Office which has contributed to Wexford’s excellent track record of net job creation, with the county placed 2nd nationally in 2023.
