Introduction to Search Engine Optimisation - 02/04/2024:

Course Objectives:

This course is aimed at business owners or marketers who manage an existing website or are planning on getting a new website.  This course assumes no prior knowledge of SEO - everything is explained right from the basics.  Participants will learn how to drive quality traffic to their website using a range of SEO strategies.  They will also learn that there is a large number of factors involved in SEO, and that while it is not particularly difficult or expensive, it can be quite time-consuming and needs continued work.

At the end of the course participants will have a good understanding of SEO and what they need to do, both onsite and offsite, in order to get their site higher up in Google search results.  Participants will have the knowledge to improve their website's SEO themselves or discuss their website's SEO confidently with their web developer.  Participants are actively encouraged to discuss course topics, share experiences and ask questions.

Content:

  • What SEO is any why it matters
  • Keyword research: What it is and how to find the most relevant keywords for your business

  • Offsite SEO:  Some of the elements outside of a website that affect SEO success, inbound links, xml sitemaps, social media presence, and much more.
  • Participants will learn how to audit your own website's SEO, and how to see some of the SEO strategies other websites are using.
