Basic Bookkeeping and Taxation - 3rd & 5th February

This course will be delivered over two dates - Tuesday 3rd & Thursday 5th February 9:30am - 12:30pm

Every business promoter needs to know how the business is performing on an on-going basis. Also they need to have confidence that the finances are in hand and that customer accounts are being settled on time and that creditors are being paid on time. It is essential that businesses are up to date with returns to Revenue and that banking matters are being properly handled.

This course will show participants how to set up a basic bookkeeping system to include a sales and purchases daybook, cash books and receivable and payable ledgers. It will also cover an introduction to double entry and a simple system to assist with the concept of debits and credits. It will deal with Nominal Ledger accounts, trial balances and the preparation of monthly accounts. It will also give a brief interpretation of an Income and Expense statement.


Objective:

The aim of the course is to provider participants with an understanding of a basic bookkeeping system. It will also provide participants with a basic understanding of the Irish taxation system and calculating tax liabilities

Outcomes:

  • Be able to setup and operate a basic bookkeeping system
  • Be able to record financial transactions in the appropriate daybooks
  • Be able to apply this learning in a practical manner in their own businesses
