SEO consists of three main components: on page, off page and technical. This course will walk each participant through each component and give them hands on experience using a range of tools to aid with SEO and monitoring. Each participant will be able to evaluate their own website SEO and create an action plan for completion after the course. This course is beneficial to businesses who have availed of the Trading Online Voucher Scheme.

Introduction to SEO

  • Google’s algorithms – a walk through the core algorithms and how they impact a website SEO
  • Personalisation: an understating of how google personalises search results and tips and techniques to harness this using content


On-Page SEO

  • How dwell time, structure, content and layout impacts SEO
  • Advanced keyword research and optimising pages for more than one keyword
  • Using rich cards and schema mark-up – all taught in a non-technical way
  • Using Google Search Console (GSC), analysing the report and tips and techniques on how to amend any issues noted
  • Analysing competitors – techniques and tools to facilitate this
  • Local SEO & internationalisation: optimising a website for local and international traffic


Off-page SEO

  • Understanding how content marketing plays a vital role in SEO
  • Using content marketing to build history on a website and why this is important
  • Tips and techniques on how to increase inbound links (this is vital for SEO)
  • Analysing competitor inbound links and a range of tools to aid with this


Technical SEO

  • Page speed is a big factor in SEO. Participants will be provided with a range of tools that will enable them to test and monitor their website speed
  • Server errors – they will be able to identify any server errors they have an know how to fix them
  • Canonicalization – what it is and how to fix it
  • Case studies showing how the above impacts a business’s SEO strategy


Please note:

Participants will be required to have their Google Search Console and Google Analytics set up prior to attending the course. Phone and email support will be provided to assist them if required/needed.

To take part in the practical elements, all participants should have a fully charged laptop (not a tablet) and smartphone for this course.
