Customs Workshop - Preparing for Brexit

A free Customs Training Workshop to help businesses with importing and exporting when the UK leave the European Union is taking place on Tuesday 1st October in the Newpark Hotel Kilkenny and is open to all small businesses and business people in the region who may be directly or indirectly affected by Brexit.

Enterprise Ireland and the Local Enterprise Office Kilkenny is providing interactive Customs Training workshop to support small businesses in advance of the United Kingdom’s exit from the Single Market and Customs Union. 

The implications of Brexit may have far-reaching effects on Irish Business. The objective of this Customs Export & Import Procedures workshop is to provide businesses with knowledge and understanding of the potential impacts, formalities and procedures to be adopted when trading with a Third Country.

The workshop will highlight the Customs facilities available to importers and exporters, opportunities to minimise import duty payments and ensure compliance with customs procedures. The workshop is designed to embed best practice into businesses from across all industry sectors.

Open to businesses from all sectors, this workshop will cover areas such as what export and import procedures apply, how tariffs work and how to correctly classify goods. These workshops are fully funded by the Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation through Enterprise Ireland. The aims of this workshop are to help Irish businesses understand:

• The administration process around import and export procedures.

• Customs formalities at borders.

• The Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) process

• Tariffs and the cost implications of tariffs

• Import procedures, such as the Electronic • Declaration Process and Automated Entry Processing (AEP).
