Increased Cost of Business Scheme

Increased Cost of Business

We're thrilled to introduce the Increased Cost of Business (ICOB) Grant, a crucial support measure aimed at assisting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) during these challenging times. With a significant allocation of €257 million as part of Budget 2024, this grant underscores the government's commitment to bolstering the businesses across Kilkenny.

Administered by Kilkenny County Council and the Local Enterprise Office, the ICOB Grant serves as a lifeline for businesses grappling with escalating operational costs. Eligibility for the grant is determined by the 2023 Commercial Rates bill, ensuring that businesses of varying sizes and sectors can access the support they need. Those with bills under €10,000 receive 50% of their bill, while entities with bills ranging from €10,000 to €30,000 are entitled to a fixed sum of €5,000. However, businesses with bills exceeding €30,000 are ineligible for the grant.

To qualify, businesses must meet specific criteria, including being commercially trading, compliant with rates and tax obligations, and providing valid bank details. The application process, set to launch online soon, will provide a seamless experience for businesses seeking assistance. With a closing date of 1st May 2024, SMEs are encouraged to act promptly to avail themselves of this valuable support. For inquiries or assistance with the scheme, businesses can contact the Local Enterprise Office Kilkenny at info@leo.kilkennycoco.ie or 056 7752662. Additionally, for queries related to commercial rates accounts, including outstanding balances, the Rates team at Kilkenny County Council is available via rates@kilkennycoco.ie or 056 7794209. Let's stand together in supporting our local businesses through the ICOB Grant, ensuring a vibrant and resilient economic landscape for all.
