Who is this Programme for:

This programme is suitable for:

County Carlow/Kilkenny* based owner/managers of small/medium sized businesses, who have a strong commitment to maintaining their businesses in a challenging economic trading environment (Brexit, COVID 19 etc) and wish to consider expanding their businesses onto the next stage of its business cycle. This Management Development Programme is the Local Enterprise Office’s most comprehensive offering to small businesses in Carlow & Kilkenny. This programme should combine management theory, peer learning, networking and action learning approaches.

Attendees on the course will consist of the following group:
This programme is for owners-managers planning for the next stage of their business cycle. It is recommended that businesses are established a minimum of 3 years such that the calibre of participants is high and business needs are similar.

Programme Outcomes:

The three main outcomes that participants can expect following completion are

  • Each participant will create a strategy document that will be the foundation for new growth in their business, while safe-guarding from risk (COVID-19 reoccurrence, ongoing challenges of Brexit and otherwise). This strategy will include specific actions in the areas of leadership and risk management; finance; innovation; sales; marketing and digital presence. Measurable targets and a timeline will be key to the strategy to ensure that growth can be measured as an outcome of participation in this programme.
  • Each participant will obtain the tools, resources, and a peer network to fulfil on the strategy. The group will have the ability to maintain a ‘Board You Can’t Afford’ network, as we will provide the structure and direction of supporting one another through the programme and after completion by meeting on a monthly or regular basis going forward.
  • Each participant will distinguish what it will take to grow their business and determine if they are prepared to accept the challenge. This will require the participant to demonstrate new management skills and an investment of both time and finance in making changes to their ‘normal’ way of operating their business. Growth doesn’t happen without change.

As an outcome of each half day workshop, there will be a strategic action plan for completion so that participants are capturing key actions they need to take in order to progress the strategy. We will also work with them to create a dashboard with key indicators they need to be focused upon, to avoid overwhelm as we focus on growth.

The Mastermind will allow participants to gain in leadership and management skills so that they can engage their team in advancing the strategy as well. The mentoring will focus in on the participant and the specific business strategy that
