Canva - A practical workshop for Beginners

Objectives:

By the end of this programme, participants will:

• Understand Canva's tools and features, from basic image creation to advanced image and video design techniques.

• Be able to create visually appealing social media content, promotional materials, presentations and videos.

• Gain the confidence to use Canva for brand consistency, content planning, and professional design.

• Learn advanced features such as animation, layers, and AI tools to enhance content.

SYLLABUS/COURSE CONTENT

Canva for Beginners – Creating Stunning Visual Content

• Introduction to Canva:

Setting up a Canva account (free vs. Pro version). 

Navigating the Canva dashboard and key features.

Creating their brand kit (Free vs. Pro)

• Creating Your First Designs: 

Using templates to create social media content (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook).

Designing from scratch: Adding text, images, and backgrounds.

Branding Your Content: Using brand assets (logo, colour palette, fonts) in designs.

Ensuring consistency across all designs. 

Downloading filed in different formats (PDF, PNG, MP4 etc) 

Creating Social Media Posts:  Designing eye-catching images for posts and stories. 

Introduction to carousel posts (Instagram & LinkedIn). 

Video Creation Basics: Creating simple social media videos using Canva’s animation and transitions 

Outcome: Participants will leave with a basic understanding of Canva and a finished social media post and a short video that aligns with their brand.
