Carlow County Council invites proposals from experienced artists or creative collectives to design and deliver a new community-inspired mural on College Street, Carlow. The existing artwork will be replaced with a high-quality, durable mural that reflects the heritage, identity, and shared stories of the local community.

This unique site faces the main entrance and forecourt of Carlow Cathedral and serves as a backdrop for many important moments in people’s lives. The successful artist will create a sensitive, site-specific design that honours this setting while capturing local history, folklore, and community spirit.

The selected artist will:

• Facilitate community workshops to gather stories and themes
• Develop concept sketches informed by local input
• Present a final design for approval
• Complete the mural using durable materials and protective coatings
• Budget: €5,000 – €8,000 (inclusive of all costs)

Submission Requirements:

• Artist CV and portfolio of previous large-scale work
• Short methodology outlining the community engagement approach
• Proof of Public Liability Insurance (€6.5m minimum)
• Proposed project timeline
