Imposter Syndrome and Hidden Cognitive Strain in Business

Imposter Syndrome and Hidden Cognitive Strain in Business

Event description

Many business owners, managers and professionals experience Imposter Syndrome even while appearing confident and capable to others. This practical session explores how imposter thoughts can lead to coping patterns such as overworking, procrastination and perfectionism, and how the sustained effort involved in maintaining performance can develop into Hidden Cognitive Strain over time. Participants will consider how these patterns can affect their own confidence, judgement, decision-making and follow-through, and the ongoing cost of running a business while managing that pressure. For those who employ others, the session also looks at how the same patterns affect engagement and the risk of losing capable people who appear to be coping well. The session will include audience interaction, practical reflection and time for questions.
