According to research by the IE Domain Registry not enough small Irish businesses have an active website and as a result are missing out on significant revenue opportunities that the internet offers.

This practical workshop will cover:

  • Getting started on WordPress by choosing a theme, picking a domain and starting to build a 4 page website.
  • How to create a blog on the site to promote the participant’s business.
  • How to ensure that the website is responsive so that it is mobile phone ready.
  • Build an audience for the website through using the WordPress social media syndication, sharing buttons, SEO tools, and insightful site statistics to increase traffic to the website.
  • A brief overview of the extra features available in Wordpress like advanced galleries, forms, email subscriptions, polls, sophisticated comments etc.

Delivery Methodology

The workshop will include a combination of short presentations integrated with group work and individual tasks online with a strong emphasis on practical application throughout. Participants will get the opportunity to practice their skills during the workshop in a way that will allow you to immediately apply the topics covered in your businesses. This will be supported by relevant printed materials that participants will receive.

Please note, as this is a practical workshop, participants are required to bring their own laptop (that can connect to WiFi).
