According to research by the IE Domain Registry not enough small Irish Businesses are trading online or set up to take online payments.

This practical workshop will cover:

  • The benefits of trading online according to the findings of the 'Trading Online Impacts Report'
  • Findings on the research of the IE Domain Registry on why small business owners do not trade online with a focus on how to overcome obstacles to selling online
  • What are the best ways to trade online, what tools and platforms do small business owners use
  • Getting started - Practical tips on the next steps to trading online including an overview of security precautions to take

Delivery Methodology

The workshop will include a combination of short presentations integrated with group work and individual tasks online with a strong emphasis on practical application throughout. Participants will get the opportunity to practice their skills during the workshop in a way that will allow you to immediately apply the topics covered in your businesses. This will be supported by relevant printed materials that participants will receive.

Please note, as this is a practical workshop, participants are required to bring their own laptop (that can connect to WiFi).

About your Facilitator

The workshop is being run by Eoin Costello, a well known innovation, startup and digital marketing/social media expert. Eoin was CEO for Startup Ireland for a number of years and served as National Director for the 'Startup Gathering'. Having started and grown a number of businesses himself he is very familiar with the challenges faced by SME owner managers. He also worked hands-on with dozens of entrepreneurs when he managed Ireland's largest startup programme, the DIT Hothouse New Frontiers programme. Eoin managed high profile digital marketing/social marketing campaigns for Startup Ireland and the national Startup Gathering as well as for his own companies Novara Technology and Omniserve. He is the Digital Connector for Digital Dun Laoghaire, helping connect and grow digital companies in Dun Laoghaire.
