Provision of Services for the delivery of food consultancy services for the Athy Food, Drinks and Skills Innovation Hub

Introduction / Background

Kildare County Council proposes to develop a Food, Drinks & Skills Innovation Hub at the Model School, Dublin Road, Athy, Co. Kildare. This development, which is currently the subject of a Part 8 public consultation, will involve the refurbishment and fit-out of the vacant building to provide training, demonstration and shared commercial kitchens, café/meeting area, co-working areas, ancillary sanitary and storage facilities and all associated site works.

Kildare County Council is now seeking the services of a consultant to advise in the following areas:

1. Advice on Layout of kitchen spaces in accordance with all Health and Safety standards
2. Advice on layout of Social Enterprise /teaching Café space and essential furnishing in accordance with all Health and Safety standards
3. Advice on teaching aids and appliances e.g. ICT
4. Advice on kitchen equipment required, cookers, ovens, fryers
5. Types of larders and storage spaces including fridges and freezers
6. Advice on green and sustainable hospitality procedures

The consultant will conduct a review of the existing scheme in principle to provide feedback on the layout and organisation of the space available.

It is anticipated that the Kildare County Council would require the consultant to be available for 3-4 hours per week for an initial three-month period with a focus on kitchen layouts and selection of equipment. It may be the case that the consultant will be retained for further advice as the project proceeds.
