The key aim of this programme is to enhance the core management skills of all participants.
Managing people is one of the most critical aspects of organisational management. No matter whether an organisation is a non-profit, start-up enterprise, or mature business, employees are crucial to achieving objectives, delivering results and being successful. The Management Development Programme focuses on the practical aspects of managing people and operations within industry today.
This training programme will highlight the need for a thorough understanding of the management function within an organisational context, complementing the legal requirements with industry best practice guidelines for the recruitment, retention and development of people. This programme will help participants to improve their managerial capabilities and will evaluate the consequences of business growth on human resource practice.
Specialist trainers from Optimum Limited are skilled at practical development within organisations of varying sizes and can bring this experience to this programme. The programme incorporates practical classroom based training with assignments linked to certification to cement learning.
This programme will provide training across the following areas:

Specific Course Objectives
Participants will:
Practice effective supervisory management skills
Design, implement and change standards
Appreciate the value of effective and open communication within organisations
Develop strategies for staff support and empowerment
Understand the importance of effective relationships within a multi-disciplinary team
Demonstrate effective conflict resolution and mediation skills
Understand the importance of stakeholders’ rights and expectations in the delivery of a quality service
The specific learning outcomes are grouped into 4 units:

- Unit 3 - Building Effective Relationships
- Unit 4 - Legislation, Regulation and Policies

Project
A project is a response to a brief devised by the assessor. A project is usually carried out over an extended period of time. Projects may involve research, require investigation of a topic, issue or problem or may involve process such as a design task, a performance or practical activity or production of an artefact or event.
Assignment
An assignment is an exercise carried out in response to a brief with specific guidelines as to what should be included. An assignment is usually of short duration and may be carried out over a specified period of time.
Learner Record
A learner record is the learner's self-reported and self-reflective record in which he/she describes specific learning experiences, activities, responses and skills acquired.
Grading
Pass 50% - 64%
Merit 65% - 79%
Distinction 80% - 100%

Course Delivery:
5 sessions
Taking place -Tuesdays from 6th October to 3rd November inclusive
10am - 3pm
Delivery Methodology:
Group work, individual tasks, simulation exercises and workbook exercises with a strong emphasis on practical application throughout. This course is extremely interactive providing participants with the opportunity to prepare and practice their skills.
