Kildare County Council in Partnership with the Rediscovery Centre are offering a unique opportunity to local tourism and hospitality micro business owners and tour guides to upskill through industry accredited bicycle mechanics training.

It is also aimed at supporting those who are moving into a new career direction in sustainable tourism as part of our Just Transition measures, and in anticipation of the development of a new Circular Economy and Green Skills Hub in Athy, Co. Kildare.

8th and 9th October, 9:00am – 5:00pm
Ballyroe Community Cabin, Athy R14 KH50. 

Cost: €100

This programme is heavily subsidised by Kildare County Council.
Bikes and all necessary tools will be supplied at no extra cost.


Cytech Technical 1 Online Theory:
Taking roughly 4 hours to complete, this online course oƯers flexibility in achieving the Technical
1 qualification and covers topics such as Workshop practices, Torque, Tyres and tubes, Pre-
delivery inspection, Health and safety, Consumer legislation. It is recommended that the theory
course is completed before the practical course, and completion is necessary to achieve the
full qualification.

Cytech Technical 1 Practical:
The practical course is an intensive 2 days of 14 hours of training and assessment, covering
topics such as Pre-delivery adjustments (gears, brakes, wheels) and inspection (positioning and
torque values), and Frame preparation and alignment.
