LEAN Programme 2018 for the Micro Enterprise Sector in Cork

LEO Cork City (in conjunction with LEO South Cork and LEO Cork North & West) invite owners/managers of small businesses to a Breakfast Information Meeting on Friday 4th May to learn more about the upcoming LEAN Programme which will commence shortly.

  • Date:                    Friday,  4th May 2018
  • Time:                    10:00-12:00noon
  • Venue:                  Oriel House Hotel, Ballincollig, Co. Cork  www.orielhousehotel.ie

Who is it for?

Owners/managers of small businesses looking for ways to improve profits, customer service and employee engagement.

What can I expect?

An opportunity to think about      how to improve your business, away from the minute-to-minute business that can get in the way of fresh thinking.

What will I gain?

See how to identify opportunities for improving profits and customer service, and what to do.

Who will be there?

  • Cork LEOs  -  will advise on the supports that LEOs from Cork City Council and Cork County Council are providing for local businesses through the LEAN Programme.
  • LEAN business process improvement experts – Allyson English and Stuart Nelson of V.A.E. Consultancy Ltd. – will share their experiences improving profits and growth for small businesses as managers and LEAN consultants

Will it be technical or boring?

LEAN is all about practical but not always obvious ways of looking at problems and opportunities.  To help explain this, Allyson and Stuart will take us on an imaginary journey through a typical business and pointing out typical opportunities along the way.

Will I need to talk about my business in public?

You will not be asked to speak publically unless you want to.  However if you wish, we will be pleased to meet you privately afterwards and listen to your priorities for business improvement.

How much will it cost?

The breakfast information meeting is FREE to attend, but you will need to register at:          https://www.localenterprise.ie/CorkNorthandWest/Training-Events/Online-Bookings/Lean-Programme-2018-information-event.html

The LEAN Programme

Local Enterprise Offices recognise the importance of the development of management skills for people managing their own micro or small businesses.  LEOs also recognise the very substantial improvements in productivity and profitability that can result from the application of the LEAN principles in a business and aims to support managers in effectively embracing LEAN methodologies in their businesses.

  • LEAN is about being effective and efficient – doing things quicker, better, cheaper ... together.  LEAN strives to stamp out waste and to continually improve.
  • LEAN requires that individuals, teams and the entire business remain continuously focused on the customer,  adopting a practical approach to increasing value to the customer by the elimination of every form of unnecessary waste.
  • LEAN is a way of thinking and acting that enables people to drive the business forward. It increases capability and capacity and is the catalyst for innovation.
