Cork company, Remote Signals – www.remotesignals.ie - has been selected by the Local Enterprise Office (LEO) Cork City to represent it at the 2018 National Enterprise Awards on May 24th in the Mansion House, Dublin.
Co-ordinated by the 31 Local Enterprise Offices in the Local Authorities Network, the National Enterprise Awards recognise and honour the success stories of small businesses and entrepreneurs from all around Ireland and is now in its 20th year
Remote Signals was announced as the LEO Cork City nominee for the Awards at a special presentation hosted on March 7th at the Local Enterprise Office, Cork City at City Hall during Local Enterprise Week.
CEO and co-founder of Remote Signals, Joe Perrott will be in with a chance of winning one of 12 awards on offer and a share of the €40,000 national prize fund for his Internet of Things (IoT) company. A qualified mechanical engineer from CIT, Joe spent eight years working for PCH International in China where he got the opportunity to work with some of the biggest tech companies in the world. In 2013, Joe took on a new role with PCH which involved working with new tech start-ups, and he spent the last five years working between Ireland, China and the US. Through his involvement working with so many entrepreneurs on some really fascinating projects, Joe was inspired and driven to start his own tech business.
Along with two of Joe’s colleagues from PCH, Dan Stapleton and Tony Garvey who are also co-founders of Remote Signals, they discussed ideas and products and Remote Signals was born. The company connects business assets such as fridges, motors and pumps to the internet where they then take and collect the data, and turn it into meaningful insights for their customers, helping businesses to make real time decisions, and as a result become more efficient, reduce costs, and possibly unlock new potential revenue models. Remote Signals also recently won the Regional Title of ‘Best Business Idea’ in LEO Cork City’s search for Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur (IBYE), and will go on to represent LEO Cork City at the IBYE National Final.

Last year’s LEO Cork City representative at the National Enterprise Awards was Paul Moore, founder of Rebel Chilli, a company that makes a range of fresh chilli sauces by hand for both retail and the food service sector in Ireland and internationally.
